Mathematics In Physics

The world of Physics involves a lot of mathematical calculations in terms of analyzing motion, forces, energy and various other physical phenomenon. Defining coordinates for location mapping also involves X & Y axes which are part of mathematics only. Any graphical representation like bar graphs, pie charts or pivots are nothing but mathematical tools.

Mathematics In Chemistry

Mathematics is used extensively in chemistry. Chemistry experiments are conducted with a wide range of mathematical equations. Calculating ratios in mixing elements, making solutions, understanding pH scale, calculating rates of chemical reactions, validating correct organic, inorganic or physical formulae – all these cannot be done without the knowledge of mathematics.

Mathematics In Economics

Economics as a subject uses mathematics and statistics in an extensive manner. There is a lot of calculus, optimization and algebra involved in economics. Analyzing and predicting economic trends and forecasts, inflation, demand & supply, agricultural or industrial production, population growth, income & expenditure and many other such economic factors are done with the help of mathematics.

Mathematics In Astronomy

Mathematics and astronomy are very closely linked. Many world famous astronomers have been mathematicians and vice versa. Astronomy involves lot of calculations like predicting positions of celestial bodies, eclipses, planetary motions, satellite positions, degrees of latitude & longitude, trajectories, orbits, measurement of angles between various planetary objects etc.

Mathematics In Commerce/Accounts

No commerce of accounting can happen without the use of arithmetic. Accounting involves measuring, calculating and sharing the economic health of a business entity. Mathematics comes into picture where we need to check accounts, calculate discounts, manage payroll, mark-ups and markdowns, levy tax, compound interests, offer credits and lot more.

Mathematics In Engineering

Science and mathematics are integral to engineering. Mathematics or particularly applied mathematics is widely used in every engineering fields, be it mechanical, chemical or electrical. Linear algebra, calculus, statistics, differential equations and numerical analysis are important to understand many engineering subjects such as fluid mechanics, kinetic modelling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, illumination, diffusion, electric circuits and mechanics, to name a few.

Mathematics In Geography

Geographical studies involve a variety of data collection and analysis to make mathematical calculations or draw predictions, like flood return periods, green belt area mapping, topographic changes, migration patterns, seismic activities, climate & weather forecasts, rainfall measurement, wind movement, hurricane or tsunami occurrence, glacial movement, and a lot more. Besides basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, quantitative reasoning and statistics is also used in geography.
